Matthias Strassmüller (1975) composes acoustic, acousmatic, and mixed electroacoustic music. His pieces are concerned with the interexchange of musical languages between the acoustic and the electronic domain, with relationships between physical / virtual, fake / original, synthetic / concrete, de facto / fictional.
He has written for Ensemble Garage, Ayre Flutes, Goldberg Ensemble, Apollo Saxophone Quartet, New Music Players amongst others. His compositions were performed in the concert series: Synthèse (Bourges, France), BEAST – Spatial Awareness (Birmingham, UK), Risk of Shock (Bangor, UK), Sonic Voyages (Bristol, UK), Elektrostatic (Bristol, UK), ReiheM (Köln, Germany), biegungen im ausland (Berlin, Germany).
Matthias has performed extensively with live-electronics, as an improviser and guitarist. He lives and works in Berlin.
